Throttle Cable 2 Tight-HSR & Holley TB

I installed an HSR along with a twin 58mm Holley TB part #112-507
http://www.holley.com/112-507.asp

My throttle cable when hooked to the TB is too tight and holds open the blades on the TB at idle. This info from Holley is of NO help: http://www.holley.com/data/Products/...99R10020-2.pdf

My question is how to adjust the TB so that the throttle cable does not hold open the blades on the TB at idle? Can the TB be adjusted at all because the throttle cable cannot?

Thanks for the help.

Here's pics to show the problem.
Pic 1 shows the TB WITHOUT the throttle cable attached:
(TB is touching idle adjustment screw and blades on TB are completely closed)

Pic 2 shows the TB WITH the throttle cable attached:
(TB is not touching the idle adjustment screw and the blades on the TB are partially open)

Pic 3 shows the HSR & TB with only the throttle cable attached:
(Clearly the throttle cable is pulling back on the TB enough to open the blades a little)

Re: Throttle Cable 2 Tight-HSR & Holley TB

First, off, I'm not a big fan of Holley TBs for a variety of reasons. I had the same problem you are having but using one on a TPIS MiniRam.

One thing to check before you throw in the towel.... see if your gas pedal is getting all the way back to the home position. I've found a few 3rd gens that have a rubber grommet that comes ungled from the gas pedal backing plate and wedges down against the cable end preventing it from getting fully retracted again. If so, cut that grommet off and remove it- your problem will magically disappear.

Beyond that, it's time to modify the bracket. That's what I ended up doing on my install. The stock TB bolted to the same combo had no such issues.

Re: Throttle Cable 2 Tight-HSR & Holley TB

yep first check the gas pedal and see if its up all the way..

i have no problems with my 89 cable and holley 58mm. i do have a washer behind the far right bolt tho to help angle the bracket towards the front of the car

try that and it may give you abit more clearance but i dont see it making up that distance
