Timing advice

No, it is not how to time, or how to set TDC ... or what is a timing light

It is more of a how would you do this?

There is no tab anymore, there is no marks balancer either. The balancer I can take care of, but actually getting the tab onto the mounting holes is another story. How would you guys go about that easily?

Also, how would one know if there was something wrong with the way things were set up. I am just thinkng that the guy I got the car from might not have known much, so when he took it to get it times or tuned up, the techs told him it was all done... but with no tab, how? So, I am wondering how would I know if the chain skipped a tooth, or if any other oddities exist. Would it be simply get the tab in, time it to 6* and see how it goes from there? Only mods so far really is the Ignition/electrics ... always my first upgrades.

The little round thing is for a dealer test set probe. Not much help for the individual owner.

Where are you looking for the timing tab? It was put in a couple of different places by the factory.

You can get a universal bolt-on timing tab. It's best to also get a piston stop so you can locate TDC more accurately.
