IAC confusion

Ok so I was under the impression that the IAT was the sensor in the air cleaner that made the car idle right....

Well, my car does not have one.

When I went to Autozone, and asked for it

http://www.autozone.com/R,APP417270/...ductDetail.htm

is what I was shown. Now, I remember them beiing fairly small and I KNOW that the plug is only a two prong. That says thats it is a IAC, and I did not think that was it. Just doesnt feel right.

What does the IAC and the IAT do?

EDIT: Is

http://www.autozone.com/R,APP244842/...ductDetail.htm

what I need? Looks a lot more like what I think it should be.

Re: IAC confusion

IAC is the idle air control, IAT is the intake air temp sensor. the iat is the one in the air cleaner to measure the incoming air temperature.

Re: IAC confusion

Would the IAT being missing make it idle rough once it is warmed up?

Re: IAC confusion

Actually, I thought the IAT was under the plenum (on tpi cars)... The only sensor in an air cleaner is the MAF...
