Cold Air or Ram Air

I would like everyone's opinion at TGO on whether I should go with cold air or ram air on my engine swap. Were putting a 72' 350 SBC in my 85 Z28 and swapping the TPI setup over.

I know how Ram Air works, and was contemplating on whether or not to get one of the ram air boxes. But people have made points that it only yields results at high speeds typically over 100MPH and is very prone to picking up bugs grass and whatnot and also possibly allowing water into the engine in the event of rain or a huge puddle.

Now I see this cold air intake craze. I read up the basic concept on it, but I still don't have an in depth understanding on it or how it even works/hooks up under the hood.

How exactly does cold air function and would it be the better choice?

"Cold air" simply means the air intake is ducted so it gets air that has not been heated by the engine or radiator.

The "Ram Air Box" system is nothing more than a cold air inlet system.

Re: Cold Air or Ram Air

I really did like the ram air box, the only thing that concerns me is the issue with moisture getting into the engine. This would seem somewhat believable if the air filters become saturated enough.
