"Retrofit" means it is for a block that wasn't built for roller lifter cam.

You can use it, but you'll have to get a cam button. Usually makes more sense to get a factory type roller cam if you have a factory type roller cam block.

From what I can gather, the point of those MT cams is a bad idle. If you're running EFI, it's exactly what you don't want or need.

Re: retro fit cam

yeah thats kinda what i thought. I am now carbed, well at least building a carbed l98 just looking for the right cam. so far i have rebuilt L98 short block with ported 083 heads with steel shim gaskets eldel RPM intake and holley 1850 carb, MSD HEI and Dougs short headers y pipe and a 3.5 Bullet muffler dumped at the rear axel and a windage tray i have the complete roller set up out of my tpi 305. so not sure if i should just upgrade the cam with another roller or get a whole new hyd cam and lifter package. point is my cam/lifter budget is about 175 ish. also i spoke to a guy at Crane and he said that the valve springs on the roller 083 heads are strong enough to support a 510 lift cam. did not sound right to me but thats what he said, he mentioned that roller head spring are stronger than non roller from the factory. what do i do?
