need help! problems at the strip!!!!
alright first the setup. its a 84 camaro 70 high compression 350 bout 12:1 according to research since the only thing i put in it was a new crank. mildly aggressive cam. stock 300hp heads. mickey thompson E.T. streets. but heres the problem, it drives great under all conditions on the street, but at the track when the i launch it at about 4000rpms and it hooks great lifts the front end to where the tires are about to lift off the ground and then it dies like theres is no gas getting to it, will will kick back in lift it up and stall a little more then will take off like it should after about 2 stalls from the line. could it be the mechanical fuel pump? is it the carb? it would only run a 14.4 but i know its a 13 second car it eats up about a second on the line dying out! help me please!

I assume you have a holley carb? If you do it sounds like you need secondary jet extensions. On a hard launch the fule in the secondary side of the carb slides to the back of the float bowl and can uncover the main jets, to cure this you add in the secondary jet extensions and new float that comes in the kit.

Also check your float level and try a piece of hose over both vents and cut an opening in the top of the hose.
