so after countless problems with my 86 iroc i finally got her going, shes got a 305, edelbrock headers, hurst shifter, hooker muffler, posi rear end and brand new rebuilt transmission, oh and also a new alternator, so the problem i had today was i had to fix the ignition timing, seemed it was off, and ran okay but would die once warmed up, so i adjusted the timing to 8* btdc and it ran fine, took it out for a drive, it died on me once but after that i drove it probably another 30 minutes just cruisin i hit WOT acouple times and whatnot, and i had no problems, acouple times it wanted to turn off but it stopped itself, then a block away from home i floor it up a hill, it revs just fine pulls great then turns off at the top of the hill, i could tell because it got harder to steer, then when i went to crank it again, it would just try to crank but it wouldnt turn. then 5 minutes later it cranked again, ran alitle while and turn off, then wait another little while and it turned on again and stayed on. i checked tranny fluid which was alittle low, i have yet to add some but will tommorow, motor oil was fine, and heres a list of things ive changed just to paint you a picture

if you guys have any questions of ideas of what it could be shoot me a reply, also, it seems to drive just fine in drive and reverse, oh but when i turned the car back on after it turned off on me i floored it alittle and the exhaust smelt kinda bad, kinda like sulfur?

When my o2 sensor wire burnt up, I had a problem similar to this. It would have a really hard time idling once it was warm and would have a real bad stumble and sometimes it would die when I tries to punch it.

It could also be a bad injector that is acting up when it gets hot. Do you have TPI or TBI?
