well last night i was leaving the gas staion after paying 4.59 a gallon and when i started the car up it started to surge and stumble i tryed to gas it to get the rpms up but when i pressed the gas pedal it died. i turned the key to start it again and it ran fine. it does this every now and then. anyone know what would cause this. It a 1989 tpi powered gta..

 

This could be quite a few things.

Does it still do it now?

The fuel filter could be telling you something.

Your TPS could be out of adjustment.

Your IAC could be out of adjustment.

You could have an intermittent vacuum leak.

Could have simply been a one time hiccup.

 

none of us are experts at helping you to diagnose a problem over the internet

some of these guys could fix you car in 10 minuites if they had a way there and some tools

if you dont have any money and no skills with a wrench take it to someone who will take your money in exchange for the wrench skills

I did not say you had a magical wand. I just wanted some input on what other people think it is related to. I do my own work on the car some I would never pay a tech in less i have to. the fuel filter is new. I think I will give it a nice tune up plugs,wires,cap,rotor,o2 sensor. and see what happens.
