OK I know you must get this alot but I have a 1992 Camaro RS 3.1 V6 that will not start. I have a clicking sound when I try to start it which tells me the starter is OK. Also I have the timing correct so thats not a problem. How can I tell if it is getting proper fuel and spark? I almost had it turned over twice but something won't kick the engine over to run. I have fresh gas, I changed the oil, put new coolant in, and gapped the plugs. Is there a faulty electrical connection somewhere? My guess was it isn't getting enough fuel, but I don't know how to check for that. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

 

A click but the engine won't turn over? Doesn't clear the starter in my book.

#1 is battery voltage - is the battery fully charged?

Next, the wiring, starting at the battery. Is it all clean and tight, no corrosion or loose connections, no frayed wiring?

If this slowly started happening, vs. after some "event", then the starter would be next on the list.

(By "turn over", I assume you mean the engine does not "turn" when you take the ignition to "start". If by "turn over" you mean it won't fire and run on its own, then say it won't start.)

 

I should have worded this better. My battery and starter are fine. When I try to start it, it doesn't start the engine and run, it runs the starter but doesn't kick the engine over. Also my exhaust occasionally backfires as well but not a lot.
