Adjusting lash...
Adjusting lash...
I had been hearing a bit of a idle problem lately and i stuck my head under the hood and hear a ticking under the valve cover above #8 I removed all the crap around the valve cover (pain in the a$$) and found the rocker on #8 to be not touching the rod... ie the ticking not sure what the specs are for correct lash ive heard that once it is touching it is one more half turn is that right??? And I know this is a stupid questing but rather safe then sorry I have solid lifters right??? Any help is greatly appreciated.
The engine is a 89 L98 TPI nothing special just exhaust... Dont thing the cam is wore out because there is no sludge or dark oil even it still looks purtty under there and I change my oil every two thousand. Thanks guys!

Re: Adjusting lash...
Sounds like it may have a bent pushrod or a collapsed lifter. It would be good to check both first before making the adjustments. It should be hyd lifters.... solid you set lash with a feeler gauge.
The way you described setting it has been working for a long time for me for hyd lifters.... I think that's what it says in the book too but i can't remember.

Ok im not second guessing anyone but if it where hydraulic lifters I would be able to push down the rod side of the rocker no? Because they have no give they feel... solid... Im not trying to make myself right I just want to know where to find this so I dont make a mistake that costs me a head or a engine or anything because im saving for go fast engine tranny and seats for my big a$$.
