Messed up problem with a code 13, now a code 32.

Ok, some of you may have read the semi epic other thread I had going about a code 13 that I finally fixed with new plug wires cuz of a bad ground, but right after that I got a code 32 for the egr. I checked out the valve and it seems fine (holds vacuum, moves freely). I have a few questions about the solenoid though.

First, I only have two wires going to it, but my haynes manual indicates there should be a gray wire coming from it as well. Can anyone check to verify this, because I don't really see where it would go. Maybe the mount is the ground? I also have a vacuum tube that seems loose, the solenoid seemed to have a little clog, the valve itself was on there real loose, and the gasket pretty much broke into pieces when I took it off, but I want to know about the ground lol. Thanks.

Actually, scratch that. I ran a current through the solenoid and held up the base to some metal and felt the solenoid click (even though I noticed the plastic insulation around the solenoid coil is cracked and peeling) so the mounting base IS the ground connection. Now it just comes down to a vacuum issue... any suggestions on where to start?
