SA for alum heads?

just trying to see what most people run with alum heads...i run afr 180cc heads....and was wondering what max SA would be and when should i have it all in at... my setup is forged bottom end...afr180cc heads 9-6-1 compression..edelbrock airgap rpm...tbi adapter and bbtbi...a/f is dead on 12.5 at wot and 13.5 mid accel and cruise is a 14.7 but i am just not sure if i have enough timing... i run about 36* wot.. have it al in by 3600... does this seem right or what? ...less? more? ..i get no knock... so jsut wanna a broad opioin...

36 total should be right. You might bring it all in a little sooner depending on what camshaft you're running though.

total looks ok, but its coming in awfully late - something in the 2600-3000 rpm range would be better for having all your timing in.

Mine starts to lose power at 38 degrees, so I run it right about 36. That goes for all setups I've had, n/a 10:1 comp. w/87 oct, 10:1 w/ 93 oct and 10psi, and 8.5:1 comp w/ 93 oct and 15psi. When I had a normal dist. I put a couple bolts in one of the crossbar pieces that move with the mechanical advance. This let me run a base timing of 20 degrees while still maxing out at 36 degrees, and I could run not-so-weak springs to keep the timing from bouncing all over the place at idle. I don't remember what rpm the timing was in by, but most people I've herd say to have it all in by 2500 or so.

well so far 34-35 feels good i have most in by 3k and all in by 3400....now how about down low like 800rpm to say 3k...on thew lower rpm at hight mpa like 100map wot..
