Warm Engine Starting Problems

We have a 1986 Rockwood motorhome that has a Chevy 454 engine. When the engine is cool.... it will start and run great but after it warms up and you shut it off it will not start until it cools down and then it will start very strong again. I drove it for 400 miles and it did this each time I shut it off and the battery stayed in good condition. The temp. gauge shows that it is not getting hot, just good running temp. and you don't have to run it but 15 to 20 min. for this to happen. The battery and alternater seems to be fine. I have cleaned the batt. terminals good. I have replaced the starter and solonoid with a new one but it did not help...I have checked all cables and all are good...There is a small heat shield on the exhaust pipe but it is so close to the starter that it probably doesn't do much.....I ordered a heat shield from Auto Zone that you wrap around the starter but there is not enough room for this,,,,,and its says not to get it any closer than 4 " from the exhaust pipe so this is out......All help will be greatly apprecated....
