New motor in but 2 major issues...

Ok, here we go. I swapped the new 385 in (2 pieces RMS) and the th350 but the starter wont engage the flexplate. On the stand bolted the starter down and I pushed out the starter gear, it engaged the starter. But now the the motor is in the car and everything is bolted down the starter gear comes up just short of engaging the flexplate. I tried manual extending it but it wont reach and I tried various amount of shims and still no dice. Here is the starter I have.http://store.summitracing.com/partde...w=1&N=700+150+

The other issue is that I can't seem to get the fuel pressure on my Mallory FPR to go below 10 psi it is either 10 or 15 psi which is obviously way to much. I am ajusting the hex scre at the top, is this not correct? Whe it is screwed all the way down I get about 15 psi and once I unscrew it more than 2 turns or so I get 10 and it doens't get lower no matter how much I unscrew it.

Thanks in advance guys

Are you sure you have the correct size flexplate?

How did you fix it?
Always good to know in case someone else runs up against it.

Re: New motor in but 2 major issues...

Sorry I got a email that pointed out a typo and that was what I was refering too sorry for the confusion. I have not fixed it and am starting to think the flex plate is on backwards since the gear wont extend far enough to engage the flex plate. A buddy of mine installed it again while I had to run to the store to buy some converter bolts and I think it is on backwards now. Would that cause my problem?

To be honest I wouldn't see how that would make a difference...I dont think flipping it would make it easier to engage the starter seeing as I assume it is a perfect circle so every direction would be the same...how many shims did you have on?

Re: New motor in but 2 major issues...

Yep its a two piece, and I went ahead and flipped it over and it fired right up. It was a great felling when I hit the key and the first motor build and swap I did fired right up. The fuel pressure got fixed also by running a bigger return line.

Thanks everyone for your help.
