RED PIG NEEDS HELP
RED PIG NEEDS HELP
Hi, I am new to this board and in some need of help with my 1986 Camaro. I had a 1981 Monte Carlo that I sold that was a high 11 second car. Now I purchased a third gen. camaro. Here are the items that are on the car.
1. 1987 TPI 350 block rebuilt and balanced. compression unknown
2. World Products steel heads 2.02/1.6
3. Harland Sharp 1.5 rockers
4. TPIS ZZ9 camshaft
5. Ported intake manifold and base plenum.
6. Edelbrock Big Tube Runners
7. 52MM throttle body
8. LT1 injectors and adj. fuel pressure reg.
9. Aluminum water pump with Griffin aluminum radiator and electric fan
10. SS SLP 1 3/4" headers and dual 24" Edelbrock mufflers
11. High Performance 700R4 trans with B&M shifter
12. Ford 9" w/3.89 gear
13. Global West Track Link
14. Sub frame connectors
15. Bullet Proof drive shaft?
16. Wilwood and Baer disc brakes
17. Energy bushings
18. Iroc coils and sway bars.
19. Battery located in rear.
20. Boxed control arms.
21. M/T slicks 26"x10"x15" that I purchased after I bought the car.
I had a problem with the alarm system not letting me start the car. I had a friend come by and remove the alarm system. Now the motor will turn over but the tank pump does not come on. I put gasoline down the throttle body and it starts and runs until it runs out of the fuel that I put in. I removed the fuel line and the return line and turn on the key and nothing.
I would like to get it running so I can take it to a track and see how fast it will runs as a TPI car.
I have purchased a Victor Jr. style intake and a 750 CFM holley to put on the car. I also have a HEI mechanical distributor or a Mallory distributor to put on the car.
I am planning to make it a carb car and remove the TPI.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get the pump to work and how fast a car should it be as a TPI car and as a carb car?
Thanks RED PIG

Check voltage at connector behind rear seat and check fuse on that circuit then go from there.

I'm not exactly conversant in alarm systems, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a fuel interrupt in the system. It probably wasn't properly reconnected when the alarm was removed.

Re: RED PIG NEEDS HELP
I found the wire that runs to the pump and wired it direct. The pump works now but the injectors do not fire. I put starting fluid down the throttle body and the engine fires. So now I need to figure out how to make the injectors fire. Seems like the ecm is not getting the voltage to make the injectors fire.

Re: RED PIG NEEDS HELP
You're going to have to have another look at it's removal since it ran with it on, and make sure all of the original wires were reconnected.
It may also be that the car has a wiring problem unrelated to the alarm. (which was why it was up for sale).

I have the A/C running in the garage now, I am going to make it a carb car because it will be for racing only any way. I have all the stuff to make it a carb car sitting in my garage. It will be setting for a while I have about two weeks to work on the car before my surgery. Then I have about three weeks or more of recovery. I just wanted to try the car as a TPI car before I converted it to a carb car to see how much time difference there was and to get acquainted with the cars handling. I see that you are running a carb on your car with a 700R auto. Did you use the holley-20-95 throttle adaptor and did you use different throttle and trans cable?
