Engine clicks but won't turn over

I'll start with what happened first. To get the engine to turn over, the key would have to be slowly turned until the starter caught. If the key was turned at a normal rate, the engine would make one click as if starting to turn over but would stop. A few days later the starter went and no matter how slow I turned the key I had the same problem as if I turned the key at a normal speed. I changed the starter and had the same problem that I started with but at least the car would start. I then took the car off the road for major body work for a few months, and now I'm back to the same problem of the engine clicking once and not turning over. Do I have a bad ignition module or is it something else. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

how is the voltage when it happens?

sometimes my cars do that when the battery is drained. a bad ground or battery connection could cause this.

Re: Engine clicks but won't turn over

The voltage appears to be good. I'll check the grounds, and give the steering wheel tilt a try for the wiring. As for when it did start, aside from not being able to turn the key all the way forward, the car would turn over well and would start fine.

Re: Engine clicks but won't turn over

Thanks to everyone for the help. I finally got it to start so I can at least get it home, but I am still having the problem with not being able to turn the key all the way.
