can i take out my t-stat and run it with out in till winter?
i was wandering if not being able to get in open or closed
loop would really make a difference ,
I initially did a head gasket because of this overheating problem
and did not have the heads pressure checked ,i now believe there
to a crack ,fans come on when driven normal ,but all all the coolant
spits out of the reservoir all over my engine and all cars behind me
over 100
relays test fine, new coolant switch ,ac fan comes on when demanded
new radiator ,now i have an extra one ,
nothing leaks from the water pump ,there is flow
changed t-stat 3 times
its got to be the head s or the block ,right?
coolant has combustion gases in it again .
can i even go as far as drilling some holes in the t-stat rather than going with out ,
dont have time or money to do my heads again or even change them
thanks ,car still has power ,but seems like forever to get to 115
thanks

It needs to run in closed loop to run properly. Try checking you timing, and making sure your timing mark ain't off either. You could also flush the system.
What do you mean by coolant has combustion gasses in it? Smells like fuel? Oil? If it has oil in it the engine won't last long being ran like that. It needs a compression test ran on it to make sure there is nothing serious.

if you had it tested for combustion in the coolant system, you either have a bad head gasket, a bad or cracked head, or possibly but not likely a cracked/warped block......as far as t stat, get a 160 degree F or they have restrictor plate at like schucks but you do need some sort of restriction in there to slow the coolant down so that you get enough heat. also try wiring your passenger side fan into the driver side fan wiring, so that when the main driver side fan comes on, it turns both of them on. also check your oil for coolant, it'll look milky if its in there

had a 160 t-stat in there ,the problem still existed so i changed it againe
i think i will do a compession check and drill some holes in a new t stat for now ,take it from there ,either way i still have to drive to work ,
