rocker stud hole filling

i have some new aluminum heads, i just finished a port and polish and would like to fill in those holes where the rocker stud boss is tapped into the runners.

anyone have suggestions as to what to fill them with?

I don't think they'd impede flow enough to worry about filling them.

Agreed... don't worry about them, they won't hurt anything. Just make sure you use some fuel/oil proof thread sealant on the stud threads so no oil from the rockers seeps down, and your golden

i heard somewhere that it was killing the flow by like 5% just due to turbulence. im not too worried about it right now as i went overkill with the runner size for my little 355, but when i get my 400 up and running i want all the flow i can get, plus knowing a material that can withstand the conditions in there is always nice.

thanks for your replys!
Jeff.

It'd be closer to .5% than 5%... small holes like those aren't going to cause much turbulence.

Re: rocker stud hole filling

Another vote for ignoring the holes. The Vortec, LT1m and some later L98 heads had the same "problem" and it was never shown to affect flow. If you are really ****, you could manufacture studs to the precise length necessary to fill the hole flush with the roof of the runner.

Regardless of what you do, I'd advise you resist any temptation to smooth over or fill the holes with any kind of epoxy or filler short of building it up with a TIG and polishing the result.
