Ive got a 91 Camaro RS with a 305 V8. 200k miles. When i start the car it smokes whiteish smoke for a couple seconds then is fine...but when i sit at a light it will smoke when i take off. Is this just the valves? or is this the engine itself...

 

200k?? gone.. valve seals, piston rings, all bearings..time fer a rebuild.

 

most of the time the white smoke is normal because condensation builds up in the exhaust system when the cars off.

but if you get white smoke when u accelerate thats a different thing, check your oil for water, anything that looks like milkshake is bad

 

well i do oil changes regularly and the oil is just dirty black nothing milkshaky...although theres a leak somewhere because if i dont watch it theres only about 2-3 quarts that come out when the oil change is done ....

 

It's getting a little tired, but if it still running OK no big deal. Just keep the fluids topped off. I'd start saving for a rebuild soon! Just do a 350 while you're at it!
