Holy smoke!!!!

I got my 92RS in May of this year with 162K miles on the clock.I am it's second owner, but it was sitting for about 2 years before I got it.I (actually my mechanic) got it running fairly easily. The car runs good, holds a steady idle and has good oil pressure.Only one problem-it smokes : blue smoke similar to that of an oil burner(and I've had enough SBC's to know what that looks like). The previous owner said that he didn't remember the car smoking to any degree. So, I'm looking for suggestions/possible causes/solutions from you guys.Yeah I know, get a 350 get a 350 .Actually, I want to put that off until '12 when the car becomes a Historic vehicle and I don't have to pay a lot for insurance.I think it's probably the valve seals, but I've heard comments ranging from"it's just a PCV valve","just run it for a while you'll be allright" to "get a 350 ".I know in it's present state it won't pass emissions, and I need to take care of this.Thank you in advance for your ideas!!

Re: Holy smoke!!!!

Break it down, check the plugs, do a compression check, and go from there. Valve seals normally only leak a little, and the smoke will only be bad for the first 30 seconds or so on startup. Check the plugs and compression and check back. Are you losing fluid? Water or oil? Is there water in the oil? cars are simple just look at it one step at a time. Could also be an intake manifold leak? Have you changed the pcv? They are dirt cheap, like 3 bucks. Let us know. 305 are fine, 350 better. But sometimes you need to work with what you have. I would not rebuild a 305, but my bet is you don't need a rebuild.
