TPI to Carb Wiring
TPI to Carb Wiring
So, as some of you may have noticed in my other thread, the carb'ed 383 is going back in my 88. Well, it's bolted down now but I am starting to realize what a wiring nightmare I now have. I attempted to label everything with masking tape and a marker, but the weather has taken its toll and most of the labels are gone.
Here is where I stand on what I could/couldn't find:
Temp sensor wiring <-- Still MIA
Oil pressure wiring <-- Still MIA. I know this one is a single wire with a spade connector. Just haven't found it.
Pink power wire for distributor <-- Found it.
White tach signal wire <-- Found it.
Alternator and charging system <-- Found it.
Starter - Found it.
Overall, not bad.. There are just a bunch of other connectors, mostly apparently for things like MAF sensor, fuel injection, air conditioning etc that I don't need and would love to get rid of. They're just all bundled together and I want to make sure I have what I need before I start ripping things out.
Anyone done this recently and have any suggestions? Colors of wires I have "missing" or other tidbits would be appreciated..

How about a wiring schematic for the '88 TPI?
See attached.

If the F-body is the same as a Vette then the oil pressure wire should be on a 3 pin plug with the wiring for the fuel pump switch; had common sender unit that combined both
Temp sensor should be spade terminal.
Temp sensor should be spade terminal.
Re: TPI to Carb Wiring
Well, After careful research I thought I should be able to remove all of the wires that come from the passenger side fender, into the car, and to the ECM. I removed the ECM today and got that harness mostly out.
It was my understanding that everything you need pretty much comes from the driver's side harness. I ran into a slight snag. Several of the wires I removed as part of the passenger side harness run into the one on the driver's side.
I don't recall at this second, but one (perhaps both) of the alternator plug wires was also removed as part of that harness. The red wire is still in tact but I think the brown and white wires were part of the removed wires.
I'm a bit nervous with all of the wires hanging everywhere now.

Re: TPI to Carb Wiring
I guess I should have asked this question in my previous post (doh). But what are the plugs in pic 2 above? Also, where do the brown and white wires go from the alternator?
