Mobile 1 question...
Mobile 1 question...
I've been running Royal Purple in my 92 GTA for the last 8yrs/130,000 miles. I decided to change and just start using another brand that is more available and affordable. I threw in some QuakerState 10w30 full synthetic the other day. Since the car has been parked for over a year I'm going to change it again in a week or so but right before I do run some motor flush through to clean everything that got gunky as a result of sitting.
Anyway, I plan on going back to Mobil 1. I noticed there is a Mobile 1 10w30 and a Mobil 1 10w40 High Mileage. What's the difference? It didn't specify on the bottles.
My engine has 201,000 miles on it and it's 100 here in the summer and 30 in my garage during winter. Winter I have been running a 10w30 and summer I run a 15w40. Should I continue doing so with the mileage I have now?
Thanks!

Re: Mobile 1 question...
stick with the regular mobil 1. all high milage oils are junk. cant fix mechanical wear with a chemical. if ur car has been doin good with royal purple it will be good on good ole mobil 1. thats what i run in my dd and i love it....not the cheapest but one of the best.....

I'd stay away from the motor flush. It's been known to cause catastrophic failures.

If you want a 40 weight run M1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40, more detergents and anti-wear additives. I'd also recommend 5W30 instead of 10W30, same protection when hot, but more liquid during those cold, winter starts.

Re: Mobile 1 question...
Ya, if you run your car in winter, use 5W30, otherwise bad things can happen, and by bad things, i mean things can blow apart from too much oil pressure because the oil is too thick.
----------
its a little exreme, but it can happen. and has been known to happen.
