timing help

Hi I have a 87 tpi engine it doesnt run good when slightly pushing on the gas boggs kindof so I thought to check timing, to loosen the distributor does the bolt underneath need to be loosened to turn the dis, and if so how do u get a wrench down there too loosen it, or does it take a special wrench thanks?????

you can check your timing, but how's the ignitions system? are you getting enough fuel pressure? good spark?

well when slamming down the pedal so to speak it takes off great but is just just shaky when barely pushing the gas and when it gets hotter it gets funnier can run on.and almost stalls at times , but running cold it does better
