i just received an 88 iroc today and its got its problems.

the following is what i was told by the guy i got it from:
-there is a bolt missing for the headers which is causes a rattling noise in the engine
-something with the exhaust(a hole or something) is causing the computer to read incorrectly and the engine just gives out. it stays running but when you hit the gas nothing happens. then it has to be turned off for a few seconds then it drives again but will do it again a few minutes later. im scared he is wrong and that it is actually something with the trans.
-also the engine gets hot real quick due to the fan not turning on.

so any help, tips, suggestions would be appreciated. just tell me what you think. im not to great with this kind of stuff.

 

To diagnose any problem that you have more info about engine/mods is needed.

 

its the original 5.0. all i know is it has new headers and some straight pipes. i dont know the specifics of anything because the car was a freebie and the guy i got it from knew nothing. its got a venom 400 chip in it which seems to be hooked up wrong and doesnt seem to be doing anything at all.

also i fixed the engine overheating/fan problem. i just found out today they guy rigged a switch from the fan to under the steering wheel. so instead of the fan turning on by itself i have to flip the swith to get it going, which i would rather not have to do but i know how to solve that. so its a nonissue anymore.

but everything else im still trying to figure out.

 

You really have to be more specific or post pictures. "A hole or something" means little. Is it missing the O2 sensor? or is there a hole somewhere else? Only you know. Take an inventory of your cars systems.

 

ya man i know. just got the car yesterday so im still in the process of figuring things out. ill see what i can do.
