Int stall.

Hi,

I have a 92 5.7 GTA. The engine "stopped" on me and i was required to get a flat deck ride home, now here is the story.Car was working great i speed up to pass a car and there was a "miss" but only for a second then i made the pass and kept driving. Shortly after this i stopped to run some errends and the car restarted fine and i continue, agian i hear this "pop" or sneeze sound so i slow down pull over and check it out at idle, everthing is fine. I do have a fuel pressure guage perm mounted on the engine so i was able to see it, i tried to accel but the car sneezed again and stopped. with no restart. To my suprise the batt would only give me about 5-10 seconds of trying then it died. I installed a new battery from a dealer and it would crank but not fire.
After the flat deck ride home the car started the next morning but it was running very rough for a min or so after that it purrs just as if nothing has ever happened! I am asking you folks what /where should i beging to look at as my faith in her is long gone after this horrible weekend, thanks GTA

Sounds like a weak ignition. Either ignition control module or coil, good chance it's both.

Stock modules are know weak units. They are also known to take out a good coil when they go bad. Works the other way, too.

Re: Int stall.

five seven, thank you for your reply, I found the trouble, a poor connection to the ecm it started and died on me again, checked with a scanner and noted no comm with ecm, a quick wiggle of the wires and like magic it fires to life looks like this entire mess was my own fault, modded too much again thanks GTA
