Fuel feed, return, vapor line sizes + AN
Can someone tell me what sizes the fuel feed, return, and vapor lines are on an 89 tpi car? What are the -AN equiv's and what fittings do I need to attach the lines? I have a 37 degree flare tool to flare the lines after I cut them back (I need to because of a rusted section) but I don't know what fittings I will need and what size line. Also what fittings would I need to connect the other ends to the tpi fuel rail? Would I be ok just using clamps on the vapor line?

I don't know for sure, but I'd say the supply is a 3/8" and the others probably 5/16" or 1/4". AN sizing is in sixteenths of an inch, so -6 would be 3/8" and -4 would be 1/4".

Re: Fuel feed, return, vapor line sizes + AN
The numbering system for AN hose and fittings is pretty simple - its a measurement in 16ths of an inch.
EX.
-6AN = 6/16" = 3/8" hose
-8AN = 8/16" = 1/2" hose
If I remember right, the stock inlet fuel line is 3/8" (-6AN) so you'll need fittings to match that. The original parts that had threaded fittings, like fuel rails, had NPT threads not AN threads, but there are adapter fittings available to make it work. Russell makes any fittings you'll need.

Thanks guys! By any chance can anyone point me in the right direction as far as part numbers? I'm horrible at finding the right fittings and I've had the sales reps at summit set me up with the wrong parts before.. any help in that matter would be greatly appreciated. Also as far as the vapor line, can I simply use clamps for that hose?

The best way for you to do this though, now that you know what size hoses you need, is to go to a local speed shop and see what they have there, so you can actually see the parts. They will be able to tell you what will work, what you may or may not need, and show you how to assemble everything correctly.
This is one of those things, IMO, thats better seen in person than described over the internet.
If you still want our help though, we'll do what we can for you.

Here is something that I started a little while ago. I am going to complete the "written" process soon. I will post some stuff in a bit for you.
In my opinion the only place to go is www.anplumbing.com. It is Earl's Plumbing fittings. They are the best price online and they have how-to videos as well.

The Earl's fittings you see in these pics are used if you decide to cut your hardlines and adapt to AN fittings. They are your basic compression style fitting and they will adapt to -6AN.

These two fittings will convert your existing flexible lines to -6AN. These fittings also work if you remove your flexible line and leave the stock fittings on the hardlines shown above.

This is assuming your TPI lines are like the TBI. From what I know they are the same.

Almost guaranteed to be better prices on anplumbing.com.
What are the sizes that enter the fuel rail?

This is the Earl's equivalent as shown above:
16mm male with o-ring to -6AN male Part# 991955
----------
That same fitting can also work on the power steering. I believe the power steering fittings are 16mm and 18mm

I was mistaken, the parts in post #8 are the ones I need to connect to the extension piece that connects to the fuel rail, the return is in fact 14mm

To use a tube nut and sleeve, you need a flare tool.

If you use compression fittings, you don't need to flare the line.
