Shuts down

This is my original post from awile back. The problem has not been solved, and im still hoping for some help. I have changed the ignition module per a few suggestions...no change in condition. Could i now be looking at a faulty vats?

1991 camaro rs convertible, 305 tbi. I have a few bolt on mods but nothing internal added.

The good part.... starts everytime
The bad part..... shuts down for no apparant reason.
I will start the car, and its fine for a few seconds then just shuts down like you turned the key off. Re starts with no problem, no sputtering, no nothing, but then it shuts right down again. restarts..same thing. This can go on for anywhere between 3-10 times before it stays running. There is not a miss in the motor, no smoke, and all seems perfect but it just shuts down, and its driving me nuts. I checked the fuel pump..no problem there. Sending unit is new, no problem there. Fuel pattern from the injectors is nice, and constant.
New coil is putting out plenty of power, new distributor, cap rotor, plugs and wires. New fuel pump relay, and fuseblock. I have no idea where else to look but at the ecu. Any ideas here? The car runs like a top, fast, and plenty of power. This shutting down is very annoying, and a bit embarassing when im sitting at a lite and it decides to take a dump. Oh, one thing i did add if it makes a difference... double row adjustable timing gear set..set to 3* advance. Maybe the ecu cant figure it out????

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Shuts down

You may want to ask the company that made your gearset if it will work.
Your not supposed to put them on FI. I am not completely sure, but I have heard it causes vibration and makes the cam sensor read wrong. You do have a cam sensor, but it is called a halls effects switch in the dizzy. Don't know if this matters or not for a gear set.

Other then that I would look at the vats too.
