roller engines ?

What year did GM start putting the roller valve train in the 305/350s ?

some '86 blocks had the provisions, but the first installations were the 1987s. 1986 was the intro of the 1-piece rear main seal. Most of the truck blocks were machined identical to the cars, but the trucks did not get roller lifters until '96.
