Solving Engine blow-by and how to tune
Ok so I have an 1982 firebird with a 1984 305 in it, I got the car and it didnt run it sat for the past 7 years. I got it running i put on a new intake, carb and did a few small things it still has the stock manifolds and exhaust though. Right now I cant seem to get the power to the pavement it seems sleddy and I know it has to be the timing, I put in a vacuum advanced distributor because it had the wrong one it was computer controlled and the car isnt computered. So I still thing the timing might be a bit to advance or maybe the carbs just out of wack its just a used edelbrock 650 cfm. I also tend to think the motor has blow by because on the driver side the oil breather on the valvecover tends to have smoke coming out of it, on the passenger side I did hook up a PCV valve though to the front of the carb. Im not sure whats wrong or what I should do to try and solve it, I just want the car to be a bit more dependable and have a decent amount of power.
