85 Camaro v6. Change sending unit & now won't start..
Changed the sending unit this past weekend (Fuel guage didn't work, what a pain). The fuel guage worked and the car started up w/ no problems. My brother drove it around the block and even started the car up 30 minutes later. The NEXT day...He tried starting the car, but it just wouldn't, it felt like it wanted to kick over, but didn't...
I want to check the fuel pressure
1. Where can I check the pressure in the engine compartment?
2. What pressure should the car be running at?
I'm thinking that the sleeve (I'm not sure what it's called) that connects the fuel pump and fuel line might have moved and caused the pressure to drop. When putting in the sending unit, it was very tight under the car and installing the new sending unit was a bit tough.
Any other things to look for please feel free to add...
thx for the help

Last night I went out to look at the car and it started up (a little tough to start) and ran perfectly. Drove the car around for 15 minutes and then shut the car down. Tried to re-start the car, but the starter just cranked.
Going to the autoparts store to get a fuel pressure gauge...
any ideas?

Just checked the pressure. (attached the guage to the port located at the rear of the block in front of the distributor.
I turned the key to the "on" position and the pressure went up to 8 to 9 lbs and when the fuel pump disengaged it went down to 0. Tried this a few times w/ the same result.
How should have the readings went? I assumming that the pressure should be around 40lbs w/ the key in the on position.

correct. It also should not bleed down when the pump shuts off.
Should like the rubber hose in the tank may have spring a leak?

Unfortunately it looks like I'm going to have to drop the tank again. I thinking that the "pulsator damper assembly" (the piece that connects the fuel pump to the fuel line) moved and is causing the pressure to drop...there is no rubber fuel line connecting the fuel pump to the fuel line.
is there a specific way to intall this damper? When I put it on, nothing was really holding it in place.
What is the specific function of this damper? it is just to transfer fuel from the pump to the line..If yes, can i replace the damper w/ a rumber hose and clamp it in place?
thx for help

Job done.
1. Bought new AC Delco pump
2. Did NOT use the pulsator assembly. I replaced it w/ a hose and 2 clamps that came w/ the pump.
3. Drained the gas tank.
4. Removed the gas tank by slightly prying the fill neck past the triangular shaped opening.
5. Reinatalled everything
Car started and fuel guage worked perfectly.
Thanks for the help and hopefully this post can help someone else.
