89 T/A starting problem
350 TPI, 117,000 miles on engine.
Starts fine most of the time, but once in awhile you turn the key, & nothing!
I found that if I moved steering wheel up & down, it would start.
What do you think? Transmission neutral switch? Ign switch?
Help!

Just a wild guess, but it could be one of the two wires that go to your vat system maybe broke, they run through the column to the switch.

Could be the ignition switch. This is mounted down about half way between the firewall and the steering wheel. It has a metal rod that comes from the tumbler that connects to it. Did that come loose somehow?
I would check your wires too. Maybe you have a broken wire or bad ground.
