New to the Camaro world, but needs a little help
Hey everyone, I'm new to this board, and I'm very new to this kind of car (first car was a 03 Galant before I got into this one).
I recently bought a 87 IROC Z not too long ago (about a good month or so), and everything seems alright. I bought it used, but it had alot done to it (originally had a 305, but that got swapped to a 350 and is set up with TPI) along with other new stuff. Passed the emmissions with flying colors, so that's a big +. My question is similar to Elthesh's post, except there's more problems added that I've encountered:
NOTE: here's his post:

Now here's what's happening that's been giving me problems.
- The car does make a strange howling noise toward the rear of the car (in the area of the fuel pump), yet I've had that checked out, and was told that my fuel pump is still good. You can also smell fuel coming from the car, yet there is no signs of any leaks (is this common on older vehicles, because my Dad has a 71 Cheyenne pickup with a 350, and his does the same thing, just not as much).
-When I give the car gas, or punch it, the engine revs like it's supposed to, but when I let off the gas for a second, it gets quiet and then suddenly continues it's routine of bein a normal working engine. Kinda like a little bit of lag/response before the engine picks back up.
NOTE: the last two are pretty much tied into eachother.
- My idle is a little iffy at times, kinda bouncing a little bit, but dips below the 700 (around 5-400) when at a light or in park, as if it wan't to turn off. Not all the time, but sometimes.
-Here's the thing that's been bugging me the most. Sometimes I'll be driving, and the car will be driving just fine, but when I come to a light or am in park, the car idles pretty low, having to give it a little bit of gas to keep her afloat. The car has turned off on me a couple of times because of this when I was in park (and one time when I was at a light, forcing me to put it in park and start it up again before taking off.) I have the slightest idea of what may be causing this.
Again, I'm very new to this kind of car (big change from import to american), but I want to look into this car and learn as much on this as I possibly can
Everyone starts somewhere.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
