Winter '08/'09 Plans for 91 Z28

Ok so after given this a lot of thought I have decided to keep my car original and not swap out the motor.

So my plans is to completly rebuild my current motor back to new. Some of you are saying why just get a 350.

So since for now I only have a few people on my side, I am asking you guys what reccomendations do you have?
What parts with numbers should I replace and consider?
Cam
Heads
Timing
I have not set the budget yet and labor is going to be free.
Thanks for your help!!

I guess I don't understand your intent, what you're trying to accomplish. Is the engine worn out? Has it been neglected (oil changes, tune-ups, etc.)? Do you want it to run better? Do you want to keep it looking completely stock, be stock, what?

Cam & heads - no need to change them. You could upgrade the cam, clean up the head ports & put in 1.94" intake valves with screw-in rocker studs & better valve springs.

Stock 305 bottom ends are pretty stout. They'll last forever unless maintenance is neglected. Or, do you know yours needs help? Not sure what would constitute "new" to you - absolutely has to be new, or something worn out needs to be renewed?

Are you doing anything for the exhaust, or do you want this to remain stock or stock-looking as well? If it's the single cat, just going dual cat would be a big improvement in performance while it could still look stock.

Your user info says you have 4.10 gears, which isn't a very good choice for stock TPI for daily driver or 1/4 mile, although they might be okay in 1/8 mile. Or, is this just a show car and the 4.10's are data sheet fodder?

Sorry if you've said all these things in other posts, I can't always keep up with what every member is personally doing.

Sorry all that stuff use to be included in my signature forgot I updated it...

Currently I am running:
Ported Plenum with SLP Runners
Hooker 2055-1 Headers and y pipe
High Flow Cat
Borla Cat Back
Eaton Posi 4.10 gears

Technically there is nothing wrong with the engine. I am about to do soem preventative maintence like a new timing chain. And well since the I have to remove the chain why not do a CAM.

Well if I am doing a CAM what not heads... etc....

But then I feel after I get all this stuff would it just me cheaper and or smarter to buy a 350 Crate Engine and really have a new motor.

BTW: Car has been babied from birth. No abuse at all
