i have a question the gas tank in a 83 camaro z-28 305 crossfire has rusted thru and i found another tank, i also need the fuel tank sending unit and i cant find one for an 83' I found one for a 85 my question is it the same part and will it work? thank any info would be greatly apperciated

The differences in sending units is mostly an issue of fuel system. These were the variations.
The first design is for carbureted engines with a fuel pump outside the tank.
The sccond being carbureted but pump in tank, this may be the same as 3
The third is TBI, which is probably the same as crossfire, with pump in tank.
The fourth is high-pressure multi-point injection. Also pump in tank.
The vast majority of these cars all used the same internal shape of gas tank. The primary exception being the baffled tank used in 1LE cars and most '92s.
