Summit starter & Hedman L T

And a 168 tooth flywheel.Straight bolt pattern & 2 long bolts

I tried the solenoid aimed down and it hit the headers .I tried solenoid aimed up in top of the three holes and starter hits headers.I have notched the block to clear the headers and it will bolt up, but it sits right on the header.

Am I missing something here?Anyone got this to work?If not what brand are you using with long tubes?

The big stock one fit better,1" clearance, and overheated so I know this will not work.

thanks

You can get one of those wraps for the original style starter. I had the same overheating issue with my '73 Nova with long tube headers. Put one of those blanket wraps on it and haven't had any issues with it.

Now if they only made a wrap that could fix a blown turbo350 tranny......

Re: Summit starter & Hedman L T

yeah that is what I did on the old motor, but upon searching came to the conclusion mini was the way to go.Looking at saving some weight and gaining clearance.
There is plenty of room between the block and the headers ,the bolt pattern on the starter just puts it too close to everything.

thanks for the reply

anymore suggestions?

You could use the stock starter with a 153 tooth flywheel.

Hope I don't have to go that route.

I think I can drill and tap new holes but 1 hole is right at the edge of the mounting block.Wish previous owner installed a 153 tooth
