Help with (old) engine noise

Im new to these forums, but not to posting. I recently bought a 1991 z28 5.7 auto Z28, my last was a 1984 4 barrell... quite a bit different i must say

To the issue at hand...

I am trying to diagnose a sound that is coming from my motor. I just dont have the experience to figure out what it is...

Ever heard those old cars and trucks when they are accelerating, make a "tst tst tst tst" noise? THe noise accelerates when the motor accelerates, i was thinking maybe a lose exhaust manifold? Exhaust leak? Its nothing that i am worried that is going to be a trouble maker but i would like my engine to run as smooth as possible with as litte noise as possible (side from the exhaust).

Every old truck i have ever seen, makes this noise, i just want to know what it is coming from... i just dont know where to start...

Re: Help with (old) engine noise

Sounds like your on the right track exh leak... Only bad thing is fining where its comming from. Look for black and take a good size length of tuning and pisten around the manifolds and ext pipes where they connect for the leak and you will probably find your answer. Wish I could be more helpfull but its kinda got to be on site to help kinda deal... I agree I hate noise too!
