Rocker Arm Ratios, from 1.5 to 1.6

Folks, may be you can help me here... I have had a problem with my camaro eversince I swapped the 350 inc, and retrofit it to NON ECC , Put a mechanical q-Jet and a independent Mallory ignition system.

Is quite simple... My emissions a strong, specially after the engine reaches operation Temp.

My carbureator is well adjusted with no leaks.
ENgine timing is correct.
Spark Plugs are clean and no smoke at the tail pipe

I have done everything to allivated this condition. Tried three different Carbs just to be sure, played with different combination of JEts and Needles. I even put a new CAT .

I have the edlebrock TES Headders (JET COATED).

The only other things I can think of is that I have around 10.5;1 Compression Ratio and that I am using 1.6 Rocker Arms (GM ZZ3 CAMSHAFT, 208/221; LB 112).

I was thinking to change the roller rockers to 1.5 (instead of the 1.6 I have on).

ANy ideas?

what i think he refers to is eng./exhaust fumes . removal of hood seal on rear underside of hood can let eng. fumes enter vent system inside car . check that and any exhaust leaks . many will say that the rear hood seal does not matter . i say . i know first hand it does matter . rockers would not cause anything to do with fumes . good luck .

Exhaust leaks? Oil leaking onto the exhaust system? I can't see what the rocker ratio has to do with anything in this case.

No esxhaust leaks, no Oil Burning. Is just that If I let the car running you can notice the smell, moe than other cars... If enough to give me a headache. I have tried to address the matter before with no success... if I lean to much the mixture, the car runs REALLY HOT ... May be that the way it should smell... BIG ENGINE, no emission other than the CAT, HIGH COMPRESSION...

I read somewhere that the increase ratio on the rocker arm will make the cam a bit more agresive... so I though since the more agressive cam have worst emission, may be that could be the culprit....

I will check the under hood seal condition.. may be there is something there.. but the emission that I am talking about are at the pipe.. man.. strong... leave the car running for 15 minutes.. and the smell is everywhere.. strong

The rockers and the cam are not the cause. If it smells like gas, you have a gas leak (tank, fuel line, fuel vapour canistor or the engine is misfireing (ignition) or the timing is retarded. Where is the smell coming from? tail pipe?, under hood?, in the car? Does the smell stop after your shut the engine off?

At night, open the hood and look for spark leaking off your wires. A set of bad wires or other causes for weak spark will make for a stinky smell... poor performance too, especially when you get on it.

If its really that bad and you cant figure it out summit sells an additive that masks your exhaust, comes in a bunch of different smells You can have the only car around that smells like cherrys lol

You're running a non-feedback carb with a catalytic converter. You either need to put it back the way it was or dump the cat.

The factory ran catalytic converters with carburetors for years before feedback carbs were invented.

Yea, and they had the same problem.
