starting issues please help
i have a 91 z28. I have had loads of problems and thought i had it all fixed with my new 350 but i was wrong. The car will not start after it is all warmed up. For instance i was driving the other day and out of no where check engine comes on and the car shuts down...i pull over and it just cranks and cranks and cranks but will not start, it will only start if i let it sit for a few hours. Just recently i had replaced starter, battery, and spark plugs ,and map sensor. Any help would be awsome thanks in advance.

Retrieve the trouble code(s) from the computer. If the check engine light came on, there should be a code unless it just came on because the engine died.
Sounds like a weak electrical component, though, like the ignition module or coil.

x2 on the ignition module - I had one that would work fine when cold, but would start acting up when it got hot. If you can, let it run and warm up in your driveway until it dies, then see if it's getting spark while cranking.

yeah i forgot to mention that the CE light only came on because the car died. Do you think it could be fuel pressure related, because also when the car first starts up when its cold whether i put it in drive or reverse, it jumps as in the tach but soon as it is warmed up its smooth until i turn it off and cant turn it back on.

thanks for the input ill give that a shot.

It could be fuel related, but I'd still lean towards something electrical. The fuel pump temperature doesn't really change very much from cold start to operating temp. It's easy enough to test though, buy or rent a fuel pressure gauge and check it at the fuel rail.
Also, the hard kick into gears when cold could be normal. When the engine is warming up, the ECM makes it idle faster, around 1000RPM. When it's warmed up, it should idle around 800RPM. This would explain why putting it in gear when cold makes the car jump more.
Autozone can test an ignition module, and it's not too hard to remove. Pull the distributor cap off, and it's the little module bolted to the distrubutor base.

Not sure I completely understood your comment about the tach above. If the tach needle jumps around without the RPM of the engine changing then you might have a pickup coil issue.
