Still runs but Engine Has a Knock
Hey guys I found an Iroc Z wit a 305 a guys selling i was interested in getting but the engine has knock they guy says it could be the fly wheel thats causing it to have a knock....I was thinking it had a misfire....Could anyone explain to hw serious the problem is and how hard would be to fix??

If it's an auto it could be a cracked flexplate. It could also be a spun bearing. I can tell by the sound, but it's not something I can describe. You might try retarding the timing to a few degrees after TDC. This will take much of the load off the bearings. If the noise diminishes, it's new engine time.

I've seen loose torque convertor bolts can an almost rod like knock. The rythem is not the same but at least it's something you can check.
