Broke distributor gear did it mess up the cam gear?

I broke my distributor gear because i used the iron instead of brass gear on a roller cam.

Has this happened to any one and can they tell me if i broke or damaged the cam gear?

not sure. i dropped the distributor in new. drove barely a block and it died. took off the dist. cap and noticed the rotor wasnt spinning like it should.

then tryed to remove it but it was stuck.

finally pryed it out and a big chunk of the distribor gear was broken off.

I could not tell you, I have always used bronze gears with roller cams, I would say that I would want to get the rest of that dist. gear out of the oil pan, even if you got the chunk, I am sure there is shrapnel in there. More than likely you messed up the cam gear, you may put a Bronze gear on there and it work, but if the cam gear is rough or deformed even a little bit, then it will eat dist. gears like mad.
