No start / no electricity.

I pulled my (90 T/A 350) firebird into my parents driveway a few weeks ago to get it off the street while I was moving.

When I went back to get the car i was greeted by the typical clicking noise of a bad starter/ solenoid. I had replaced the solenoid a few months ago so I pulled the starter and checked the starter and it worked just fine but removing the positive cable I noticed the stud was lose in the plastic end of the solenoid.

The starter worked just fine so I assumed it was the loose stud. I decided to re-instal it being sure to align the stud so it would work.

after I reinstalled the starter and connected the battery cable I had no power at all. No lights, accesories nothing.

The battery is charged and I get arcing when I connect/disconnect the cables.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are all the fuse links reconnected and intact?

Re: No start / no electricity.

I've got the exact same problem (already got a thread on that), only I swapped my old starter for an LT1 starter (which I assume should bolt on and hook up the same way). But I've got no power. All fuses check out fine. Is this a common symptom?

All fuses checkout visually but I cant find my multi meter to check the links. There is no obvious sign of a burnt link that I can see.

The battery has since died. I opened the trunk and theres no power to close it but I think it was still drawing energy to run the lights. Not enough to illuminate anything but enough to drain the battery over a couple days.

The ground clamp did arc so i know theres continuity but I think there is a partial break that wont flow enough electricity to work anything.

VATS wouldnt kill accesory power right?

Since I was messing with the ground cable I'll see if running another wire parralel to the old one makes a difference.

Re: No start / no electricity.

did you touch the positive cable to anything when you were fixing that stud? and when you were doing that was the negative cable hooked up? b/c you might have touched that positive wire to something and shorted some ****, but you might have also not installed the stud right, try getting a new starter and new positive and negative cables and see what that does, if that dont work start checking fuses or do it the other way around

Is the battery good? Ground connection clean and tight?

No, VATS doesn't kill accessory power.

Re: No start / no electricity.

Found out what the problem was and as per usual it was my own fault lol.

The main positive cable to that stud got lost under the car and in my haste to get off the freezing ground I didnt notice.
