Starter relay location

I have a start problem on my 89 TA TBI. It wont turn over. I have replaced the battery and tried to start it again. Wondering if anyone knows where the start relay is to check it there. Otherwise, what may I be looking for? I have the Haynes Repair manual.

Re: Starter relay location

There is no relay, it's built into the solenoid. Have you tried jumping the solenoid wires?

Re: Starter relay location

Not yet, I will do that when the weather breaks. Im confused about the wiring, then. I have the Haynes repair manual. It indicates that '90 and later with passkey has a relay before the gear selector switch then the starter. My car has a resistor passkey but its a 1989. The book don't indicate that on 1985-'89. So do I go by the wiring on the 1990 or older wiring adding passkey, not shown in diagram?

Yea, sorry, didn't realize it's a VATS car. This thread may help: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...pass-vats.html
