What could it be??

Something keeps shutting my car down. It won't stay running for more than a few seconds and it idles extremely rough and misses really bad before it dies. I've changed everything that I though that it could be. I got a new ECM, ignition coil, plugs, wires, distributer, M.A.P. sensor, fuel pump, EGR valve, I've checked and replaced some vacuum lines and other hoses, and none of this solved my problem. I've had it looked at by two mechanics and neither one was able to fix it. I'm thinking that maybe it's not grounded properly somewhere or something so I'm planning on checking on that in the morning.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing my problem?

As it's running like a 3 legged goat, what's the fuel pressure?

I haven't been able to check it. I did just put in a new pump but it didn't change anything, then I pinched off the one fuel line so that it would build up pressure to see if it was the fuel pressure regulator but I don't think it's that either.

Not the fuel filter, that was the first thing that I replaced. The old one was pretty bad though.

Re: What could it be??

I wouldn't buy/try to fix anything else until a pressure gauge gets hooked up.

42ish PSI. Hook up the gauge before you turn on the car. The gauge should be hooked up so you can see the prime, watch it run like crap, then once it dies (if there's any pressure left) watch how fast the pressure dies off.

Re: What could it be??

Where can I get a fuel pressure gauge for my car?
I've tried autozone a while back and they said they didn't have one for it.

Not sure where you could rent one. Might want to try all your local parts stores (Advance Auto, Kragen, Pep Boys, etc).

Re: What could it be??

Well I found the problem. It was a ground wire. I took it off and cleaned it and switched back to the new computer and now it runs fine. For some reason when I was checking stuff out, every time I would disconnect the alternator it wouldn't die anymore, and it would actually stay running. I checked all the wires going to it and everything but I never found anything, but it's running great now, so I'm pretty happy. I'll have my dad follow me to work for a day or two just to make sure everything is still fine, but I think it will be okay.
