I've always heard that the canfields flow awesome, but I heard that the castings were prone to cracking?

can anyone confirm this, I plan to upgrade heads in the next few months, and I REALLY like what I see in the canfields, but if they have a tendency to crack, I don't want that.

I've never heard of anyone complain about Canfield. I've seen them been used a few times, both times yielded great results.

 

I'm really impressed by the low lift flow of the canfields, they just flow great at low lift, but stll very well at high lift too (comperable to the rest of the aftermarket heads.) I just don't want heads that'll crack!

I plan on going with the 215cc Canfields within the next month for my 400, I have heard nothing but good things about them and you really cant beat their prices.

 

thats another very nice thing about them, they are priced well, not much more than the trick flows, and about the same as the edlebrocks. I'm glad no one else on here has heard of that before, prob means that I heard they crack from someone who is confused!

 

I wouldn't worry about that. Aluminum heads like that are very easy to repair if they do develop a crack.

 

well, Idk about you, but 1300 bucks is alot of money for a set of heads that have a higher probability of cracking crack(it looks as though the dont and what I had heard was false.) if they did turn out to be crack prone, I would have just spent my money elsewhere instead of having to pull them off and have them tig'd up.

 

I have seen a lot of people run canfields and have not heard of cracking issues. You have to be careful looking online for product reviews, for every 100 people that get a good part, there is the one person that has a problem, guess which one you hear about. People are quick to complain and it is not always the products fault, but they always blame bad heads when they run there motor to 260 degrees and a head cracks.

 

very good point, I'm thinking that that is the case here, becauseI've only heard that once.
