used 350
I want a 350 really badly, i'm stuck with a 305 right now and i want more power. Also i don't have the income to shell out 1500+ for a brand new 350, so i was wondering if it was completely stupid to buy a used 350 engine. I tow cars and I know a guy that owns a junkyard and he will sell me a 350 long block for $450, is this a bad idea considering i have no idea the engine's history? any advice is appreciated.

What's it out of, what heads and cam does it have, and is he going to guarantee it in any way?

Another thing to take into consideration, is the cost of speed and the swap. Its kind of pointless to tear it apart and put in a 350 without doing the basic upgrades first. You would want headers and exhaust first and foremost. What type of induction do you have?
IMO opinion you should spend the money on headers first. Do the things to your car that will realize the benefits of the engine swap when you do one. The small things like headers and exhaust that will need anyway will make a performance improvement now and also work with the 350 down the road.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but you wouldn't be asking if you didn't have a good idea of what the answer is.

Alright thanks guys, you've helped alot, the 350 is out of a truck. I'll just stick with my 305 for now and get some headers, they can be swapped between 350's and 305's correct?
