Removing Distributor Gear from MSD Pro Billet
I need help removing the roll pin on the MSD distributer gear.
I want to lock the timing, but cant get the pin out.
I have removed many gears before from Stock HEI and Mallory units< BUT this pin is different.
It is rolled in at least three layers and I am afraid to hit the pin any harder with the punch. All other pin removals have been easy.
Do I need a bigger can of whoop ****? Or is there a preffered technique?

The Unit has to come apart to reposition certain pieces to lock out the advance. This is the way MSD made it. It would also alow the procedure to be reversed vs welding the advance in full advace position.

Okay, I see now. I confused that with locking out the vacuum advance. Sorry.
Just drive it out. Use as big a punch as possible that fits in the hole.

Yeah, they take more force than a stock pin. I don't drive them completely out the far side- I leave it hanging by the tip on the far hole. I don't know if it would go "ka-sproing!" if you drive it completely through, but I didn't want to find out. Support the gear properly as you drive it- don't put any force on the teeth.

Thanks Guys! I just was not using enough force. The thing was in there real tight.
