check engine light

chevy camaro
1992
v8 350

so my check engine light has been coming on lately, not every time I drive, just maybe 50% or so. I just had my oil changed this week so I know its not that. Any suggestions?

also, a while back, within a year ago, i had my transmission rebuilt. My car seems to lose power in the lower gears. when i jump on the gas, i dont accelerate like i should... having jsut replaced my tranny not too long ago, I dont think it is related to that. Maybe my chip?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: check engine light

Your computer is sensing a problem. It could be just about anything. It's probably something simple like your O2 sensor or something.

Re: check engine light

You can do it yourself but I'm afraid I can't explain how. You have to jump 2 wires in the connector under the dash, where they hook into the computer, and then the check engine light will flash out a code. Then you have to find out what the code means. Good luck.

did a search ... go here. https://www.thirdgen.org/service-eng...ht-error-codes
