I was wondering what affect retarding my cam 7* would have on idle quality? according to DD I would gain a considerable amount of top end(20 hp or so @ 6000 rpms) and still retain a decent bottom end.

Cam is lunati PN 00016

Thanks-

Re: degreeing a cam
Very rarely is a cam retarded and moving it 7* will probably cause some piston to valve clearance issues.

The most you want to move it is 4*. Advancing a cam has a greater affect on a 1/4 mile run than retarding it. Many cam manufacturers already grind the cams with 2-4* of advance.

For the most part, installing it straight up is the best choice.
