Engine Revving Self Up

Help! My 92 Camaro RS has been revving on its own!

It does it all the time; while I'm at a stop light, trying to brake,
even when I'm coasting down the road.

Last night when pulling into a parking space, my car revved itself
up and I almost hit the car next to me...I'm stumped.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: Engine Revving Self Up

I'd look for vacuum leaks. Start the car and spray some carb clean onto the vacuum lines, intake gaskets, power brake line. Could also have a leak in the brake booster.

Re: Engine Revving Self Up

Is there any easy way to troubleshoot or should I just go ahead and replace the sensors?

I only know how to fix what's broken in the past, so each time is a brand
new learning experience.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Engine Revving Self Up

Just try replacing the TPS. It is only around $30 and it takes 2 seconds.

Before you go replacing things, is your SES light coming on?
