code 33 and 43, hot relay, bad esc??
so ive been having some issues with my engine lately, It bogs down when i first give it some gas then picks up, a few missfires everynow and then.
I have replaced IACV, coil, dizzy module, dizzy cap, spark plugs, plug wires, 3 wire o2 sensor.
and i adjusted my tps.
I was trying to find the problem the other day and felt that one of the relays was warm, i unplugged it and the car ran 10x better but i got a SES. i went and bought a new relay and got better but still does it. when i unplugged it that time i hooked my laptop up to it and got codes 43 ESC failure and 33 MAF high. could the sensors be bad?
my car is a 89 trans am, came stock with a 305, i put a 350 in it and got a chip from tpichips.
I never replaced the 5.0 esc for the 5.7 esc. or knock sensor.
Swap was done about a year and a hlaf ago.
as stated above when i unplug the relay it runs like it should with a fast throttle response and starts right up.
ive narrowed my problem down to either : Bad MAF, BAD ESC, BAD KNOCK SENSOR or a short somewhere along the wires.
What could it be? thanks in advance

Take your esc module out and have it tested at autozone/advance auto/ etc. GM esc modules are pretty finiky. As far as the esc module being different between a 305 and a 350, i have doubts. But the knock sensor is deffinately different. More displacement equals more vibration upon combustion. Deffinately change that. Your maf might aslo be sending the pcm some skedwed readings. Try cleaning it see what happens (whatever you do do not use brake cleaner).
Good luck

^ thanks for the response.
I have unplugged the relay and ran it without it for a bit and it ran like a champ, i tried hooking in back up and disconnecting the esc and it ran like crap, just like it did before, but if i unhooked the MAF ir runs like a champ same as if i unplug the relay, what do you guys think that could be?
ive cleaned the MAF and nothing happened

code 33 is for the map sensor,43 is knock sensor.Start with code 33 becase a bad map sensor can also set a code 43,Check the vacum hose to map sensor if that good u need to check for voltage and ground at the map sensor plug,Car at idle should have 4-5 volts,Check ground with a test light DO NOT UNPLUG IT for this test.If thats good,Next engine off igntion on unplug and test voltage should be 1 volt or less.If all right then u need a map sensor
